Through the Clouds

Good morning, crafty friends!
Up there through the clouds there’s a hot air balloon that finds its way to get the birthday message to its rightful recipient.
I’ve been playing around with the idea of clouds and balloons for quite a while and since I had a little time to get it right, that’s what came out of it.

A long time ago, I stamped and coloured a lot of hot air balloons and had a few ideas on how to use them for some new handmade cards. Time passed and I haven’t got the chance to put them into practice until recently.
So, a few words about this card: I used the hot air balloon stamp from Trimcraft, coloured it with Promarkers and fussy cut it. I pencil drew some cloud shapes, cut them out and easily made some cloud borders using distress inks and sponge daubers. Now, this may sound like an easy thing to do. Guess what? It’s not. And you need a bit of practice till you get it right. Then…it’s a piece of cake. I looked for some sequins and got my Neat & Tangled Spring Mix out and had some ready to add. After that, I got some bakers twine in blue, trimmed a short string and added it with foam tape to the balloon’s reverse side. As I needed a birthday message, I found a sentiment stamp in a wavy line that looked just right for what I had in mind. Then, I foam taped the balloon onto the front cover, stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black, glued the sequins using glossy accents and to add a bit of dimension I glued the balloon string to the cover so that it hangs in a wavy line.
