Put some music on…

Hello, friends and crafters! Wouldn’t you put some music on if you had some headphones nearby?! I know I would. Actually, I love listening to music as much as my brother enjoys creating and singing it. Which is… a lot!

The card I share with you today is the one I made for my brother’s birthday. Of course, it has a musical theme and a nice mixture of materials, textures using different nuances of blue, white, the transparency of  printed vellum, baker’s twine and natural colours of kraft and wood.

I used some stamps from 2 different Docrafts sets: the treble/G clef and the headphones. The sentiment with ‘Happy birthday’ comes from another clear stamp set I bought some time ago. Having music as the main theme of the card, I wanted to create some patterned paper by stamping the treble in Artiste pigment ink (Denim) on white paper squares. I kind of played with it and made some backgrounds. When I was quite happy with the results, I went and trimmed some navy heavy card and a square piece of the vellum printed music sheet. The headphones were stamped using Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance ink in Graphite Black on a piece of cream card. And the birthday greeting was stamped in the same Artiste Denim pigment ink.

When all the pieces were ready and had all I needed, I went and assembled the card: first I adhered a strip of navy card on diagonal, second I adhered the first square with the treble background, third, the printed vellum and fourth I added a piece of square navy card to create the contrast. The headphones were adhered using some double sided foam tape, thus giving some dimension. For an extra twist, I added the cloth pin and the bow made of blue/white baker’s twine.
