Bonne Chance!

Determination and dreaming big brought her to fulfilling her wishes. If you believe in yourself you accomplish so much and so many. She did that! It took her a while, as any dream takes… a while, until it becomes true.

My Brother’s Birthday

34 years since we got to know each other, years of adventure, fun, challenges and more…

What do I cherish most about him: his singing, us – singing together, our fights (oh, yeah!), his passion for writing and photography, his unconditioned love as a brother – as family!

So, since he enjoys writing music, playing instruments, what else could have been found on his birthday card than a song?

The idea behind this birthday card came to me as a dream in one of those creative nights, when your mind wonders for new ideas. As someone dear advised me, I put it down in my sketch book right away. Then, when the D day came closer, I started looking for the musical notes in my books. Oh, what a cool hunting that was! After that, I played with colours, coloured card and materials that matched the theme. I felt like bringing back the highschool years, when waiting for our turn to play the violin and writing down our “solfeggio” in our music notebooks. Good memories!

Happy birthday, my dear brother! Loads of love to you!

Red and White Birthday Card

Since her birthday card on demand was ready and  I got tones of ideas left for her, I had to make one more card. And that was just because I like the idea of giving something special to my dear ones.

She likes strong colours like radiant orchid or different shades of blue. What I see when I think of her is red and white, mainly red. So that was the colour choice for her card. The outcome is in the pictures.  I hope you like it –  at least as much as she did.

Raluca’s BDay Card on Demand

It all started with the request and was followed by a tone of ideas.

Her sister told me she?d like some powerful colours. At that point, I had no idea that the color I chose was about to become the colour of the year. So, the sister chose some bits and pieces of materials to put on the card. I chose some as well. Then, I started placing them on cards to see how they match, blend in and finally stay. Though I made some sketches of the card, it ended up a bit different than initially planned. It almost always does. 🙂 Both sisters loved it.

My niece turned five today.

My niece turned five today. She is adorable, clever and so pure and happy. Her warmth and energy always fill me up with positiveness and power to move on. I made her a special birthday card using the colours I think suit her best: green, blue, violet, beige, white and silver. Sara looks great in red too.

Here’s the story of the card: one night, when I was waiting for my husband, the idea came to my mind. I drew the sketch in my notebook and added there the details I needed to remember. Then, I went shopping for the buttons and the ribbon. It was a good trip to the store as I found the exact coloured buttons I wanted. After that, it was fun to put all the things in play and get the card ready.

As I was very excited about my work I shared it with her parents. They loved it. And when my niece saw it, she said “it’s awesome”.

Ioana’s BDay Card

DSC_1716tIyLSq
We met for the first time towards the end of March 2008. She came for an interview and then got the job. We worked for a couple of years together. And went through ups and downs together again. It was fun, challenging and inspiring. And here we are, December 2013, still friends, enjoying our chats and time we spend together. We love coffee and nice things. She has 3 wonderful kids. And she’s a great mum for them. She’s got a lot of optimism and she manages to always find the strength to encourage others too. I admire her for this!

When I drew the sketch of card, I thought of something simple, but elegant and here’s what came out. I hope you like it as much as she did!

Mushroomica’s Birthday Card

final project Mushroomica?s 2013
Every card I make has a story – the story of the one I make it for.

We’ve started calling her Ms. Mushroom, when a German friend of ours thought it’d be easier to recall her. Later on, the name got modified and turned into something nicer: Mushroomica.

So, what else could she get on her birthday if not a card with a lovely mushroom on it?!

The Bike

The story of this handmade card is pretty simple. And had a great effect on the beneficiary: my godson.

He loves bikes, cycling and travels at least 5 kms (in average) per day. The bike is one of his favourite means of commuting and there’s where the card idea came from.

Once I had the buttons, it took me about 30 minutes to have it all done, written and ready to be delivered.

Hope you’ll enjoy it too!

August. Maria. Candies. Delicate.

IMG26P00000

A special card for a special person. Like all the people that stay there, in my heart. She gave me the helping hand I needed, in a time when things went crazy. I’ll never be able to thank her enough. And I’ll always be grateful.

Maria is delicate. And not in the sense of fragile. She likes pretty things, she enjoys baking, making cakes and candies and the ones I love the most: macarons.

So, light blue, white and daffodils made my choice for her card somehow easier. Hope you’ll all enjoy it.
